Wrong-way driver in Mayfield charged with drug trafficking

A wrong-way driver in Mayfield is facing charges of drug trafficking, as well.

Mayfield Police stopped a driver headed the wrong way along Water Street near South 11th Street on Saturday. The driver, identified as 18-year-old Jose Castillo of Mayfield, behaved in a manner that led officers to believe he might be under the influence of a controlled substance. A search located drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Castillo was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana, and not having a driver’s license.
