The Wickliffe Mounds state historic site was one of eight sites in Kentucky that the Kentucky Department of Parks has completed preservation and improvement projects, using a share of $75,000 in grants through the America250KY initiative.

The improvements at Wickliffe Mounds focus on preservation of its 85,000-piece collection of artifacts. The efforts include the installation of 500 new archival storage boxes and specialized archival plastic bags to better protect its collections.

The upgrades, also funded by the Kentucky Historical Society and Kentucky Sestercentennial Commission, are designed to preserve the site's extensive, over 85,000-piece artifact collection.

Wickliffe Mounds is a designated Kentucky Archaeological Landmark. It serves as an interpretative center along the Great River Road and the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail.
