The strongest Missouri earthquake in 35 years rattled much of the quad state on Thursday.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey at the University of Memphis, a 4.0 magnitude quake, centered in the Bootheel at Pemiscot County, occurred just before 1 p.m. That's 25 miles west of Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Nearly 900 people said they felt it on the USGS website, and hundreds of people on social media in western Kentucky and southern Illinois also checked in about windows rattling and floors vibrating. Reports came back from Arkansas and west Tennessee, even as far as Evansville, Indiana.
An aftershock in that same area at 2:30 pm registered a 2.1, according to the USGS.
