It's a brief cold snap today, but one of our warmest Christmas Days ever is on tap next week.
Temperatures will be 7-10 degrees below normal today with a high of 42 in western Kentucky, and only the upper 30s for southern Illinois and the Kentucky Pennyrile.
Saturday through Monday will return to above normal in the 50s.
Temperatures will rise at least 10-15 degrees above normal by Tuesday with an early outlook of 65 degrees, and even up to 70 for some spots by Christmas Day.
Paducah's record high on Christmas Day is 74 degrees, set in 2021. That's the same year as the record Christmas Eve high of 70 degrees.
The warm temps bring along a daily chance of sporadic light rain showers next week, especially across eastern portions of the region.
