An Almo man wanted on drug and bail-jumping charges, was arrested following a pursuit through Massac and McCracken Counties.

McCracken County Sheriff's detectives were looking for 42-year-old Wesley Alexander of Almo, who was wanted for jumping bail in a fentanyl trafficking case out of Calloway County, as well as fleeing from police and parole violations. Detectives found a vehicle believed to belong to Alexander in a parking lot outside a hotel in Metropolis. They called for Metropolis Police and the Massac County Sheriff's Department to assist, but before they arrived, Alexander jumped into the car and drove away.

Detectives followed him onto I-24 where he crossed the Ohio. As he exited onto Cairo Road, a McCracken County Sheriff's deputy tried to stop Alexander. He fled back onto I-24 and back into Illinois. There, Metropolis Police and Massac County deputies joined the pursuit. Alexander fled back into Kentucky across the Brookport Bridge and ran over spike strips.

The spike strips slowed Alexander and eventually brought the pursuit to an end at a business on North 8th Street. Detectives reportedly took a straw from Alexander's pocket that contained methamphetamine. They said other drugs were found in the vehicle. Alexander told deputies that he swallowed other drugs while being pursued, so he was taken to a local hospital to be treated. After his release, Alexander was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Alexander will face charges of bail jumping, parole violation, possession of meth and marijuana, speeding, wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, and being a persistent felony offender.
