A Paducah judge has been appointed as the next deputy chief of the Kentucky Court of Appeals.

Judge J. Christopher McNeill was tapped for the position by Court of Appeals Chief Judge Larry E. Thompson. The new position means that McNeill will assist Thompson with overseeing the administrative side of the Court of Appeals. McNeill succeeds Judge Pamela Goodwine. Goodwine won a seat on the Supreme Court in the November election.

“Judge McNeill has demonstrated the leadership, knowledge, and professionalism needed to serve as deputy chief Judge of the court,” said Judge Thompson.

Judge McNeill said, "I am honored and humbled to serve as deputy chief judge. I look forward to continuing in service to the citizens of our commonwealth.”

McNeill presides over the 1st Appellate District which includes 23 counties in Western Kentucky. McNeill and his family live in Paducah.
