West Kentucky Community and Technical College announced a donation of exercise equipment to the Marshall County Special Olympics facility.
WKCTC updated its exercise equipment in the employee fitness center over the last few months, and the previous equipment has found a new home with Marshall County Special Olympics athletes.
The college donated eight machines in total, for cardio, strengthening, and conditioning.
Coach Jonny Byrd said Special Olympics athletes have a workout class once a week, year-round, and with the help of several coaches, they offer basketball, flag football, bocce, track, golf, bowling, and more.
One of the newest sports for Kentucky Special Olympics is powerlifting, and Byrd said the new equipment will allow them to teach powerlifting on a local level and qualify for the USA games.
