The National Weather Service says that two winter weather systems are on the way to the Quad State area in the coming week.
The first is expected to affect southern Illinois and the Kentucky Pennyrile toward Evansville. The early forecast is that it could bring a 10 to 30 percent chance of minor travel impacts Monday night into Tuesday in the form of a wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow.
So far the expectation of minor travel impacts would be highest between Marion and Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
The second winter system will quickly follow the first one for Wednesday into Wednesday night. Minor travel impacts are still possible at around a 10 to 30 percent chance for portions of the area. This system could track further south, and affect at least the northern half of western Kentucky.
Again, it is still too early to pin down precipitation types and amounts with this system.
