The Lyon County Sheriff's office released information regarding Monday's four-car accident on I-24 that resulted in two fatalities.
The collisions occurred at 4:21pm p.m.near the 42 mile marker.
Deputies said a westbound vehicle driven by Tiffany Anderson of Hopkinsville sideswiped a truck and trailer in the next lane, then crossed the median into oncoming traffic and collided with two eastbound vehicles.
Passengers in Anderson's vehicle included Tara Rex and James Sanders of Hopkinsville, James Simon of Paducah and Brian Holt of Cadiz.
Rex and Simmons were both ejected from their vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. Anderson was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, and Sanders was transported to an out of state hospital for his injuries.
No other injuries were reported in the other vehicles involved.
The eastbound lanes of I-24 were blocked until just after midnight.
