Two arrested in connection to boat theft in West Paducah

Two people have been arrested in connection to the theft of a boat from a home in West Paducah.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, the theft occurred on Saturday but was not discovered until Sunday morning. The victim gave the deputies security video which led to identifying the suspect. During their investigation, a deputy spotted the suspect vehicle in downtown Paducah and it was pulling the boat that had been reported stolen. 

The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Joshua Hedgepath of Paducah, was eventually located and taken into custody. Hedgepath is charged with theft by unlawful taking up to $10,000 and trespassing.

A second man, 33-year-old Samuel Perkins of Princeton was also arrested. He is accused of giving police false identifying information. Perkins' involvement with the theft is still being investigated, according to deputies.

The case is still open and further charges are possible.
