An undercover fentanyl investigation resulted in the arrests of two Paducah men.

Detectives were tipped off to the alleged sale of counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl in McCracken County. The tips alleged that 22-year-old Seth A. Humphrey of Paducah was selling the pills.

The investigation led to a meeting between Humphrey and undercover detectives on Wednesday. The detectives allegedly met Humphrey and 21-year-old Brennen L. Johnson of Paducah and purchased 30 of the fentanyl pills for $400.

After the reported transaction, detectives and deputies stopped Humphrey and Johnson's vehicle along I-24. The vehicle was searched and allegedly they located more of the fentanyl pills and the money detectives used in the undercover purchase.

It was also reportedly determined that Humphrey and Johnson were under the influence of fentanyl, as they were believed to have consumed a quantity of the pills to avoid being caught with them. Both were taken to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital for treatment, before being taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Humphrey was charged with trafficking in fentanyl and tampering with physical evidence. Johnson was charged with possession of fentanyl, complicity to trafficking in fentanyl, and traffic violations.
