The annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial March, hosted by the Paducah-McCracken County NAACP, is scheduled along a section of U.S. 60/Park Avenue in Paducah on Monday, Jan. 20.
The march starts at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Robert Cherry Civic Center and participants will walk in the median along U.S. 60/Park Avenue to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Monument, which is located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive near North 19th Street.
Local NAACP leaders will place a memorial wreath at the monument and hold a brief ceremony.
The Paducah Police Department will provide an escort for participants as they march to the monument.
Motorists are asked to use appropriate caution in this area due to marchers along the roadway. Some minor traffic delays are likely as the march passes through intersections along the route.
The march and activities at the memorial are expected to be complete by about 11:00 a.m.
