A man was recognized on Monday after he jumped into action to help save the lives of two women in Trigg County.
The Trigg County Sheriff's Office said Jessie Frye was on his way to church with his family when he was cut off by deputies, EMS, and other rescue units responding to a medical emergency.
Two kayakers had been taken by the current at Little River. One of the women fought the current and made it ashore to call for help, while the second woman was stranded on a fallen tree trying to stay afloat.
Frye immediately began coordinating to get other kayaks in the water, while also assisting first responders in getting the women help. He even used his own personal rope in an effort to pull the ladies from the water.
The sheriff's office said Frye's quick action helped to get the women out of the river with only scratches and scrapes.
