At Veterans Day ceremonies on Monday, Trigg County residents got a first look at what the soon-to-be built Black Hawk memorial will look like.

Judge-executive Stan Humphries displayed a depiction of the site located near Vinson Cemetery, along US 68 at Canton Road southwest of Cadiz.

Humphries noted that it's intended to be completed next March, in time for the two-year anniversary of when two HH-60 Black Hawk helicopters collided in flight, and claimed the lives of nine Fort Campbell soldiers.

The memorial shows a large concrete pad with multiple benches, two poles for the U.S. and Kentucky flags, and two large stones with nine names. The adjacent area will also include a garden with other markers commemorating Trigg County's military history.
