A Paducah Tilghman High School student faces a second-degree terroristic threatening charge, after allegedly making a threat against the school in talking to another student.
The Paducah Police Department's School Resource officer at Tilghman was informed of the threat. It reportedly was made in the lunch line on Friday.
The student allegedly was heard saying he "had a gun in his backpack and was going to shoot up the school at 3 p.m."
The incident was not reported to a teacher until Monday. A search of the student's backpack did not produce a firearm.
A detective responded by interviewing several students who had overheard the comment.
Authorities contacted the juvenile's parents, who told police they do have firearms, but the student has no access to them.
The court-designated Worker's office told police to cite the student and release him to his parents' custody.
