TVA sets December power demand record

The Tennessee Valley Authority said Friday that they set an all-time December power demand record.

The record was set during the extremely cold temperatures across the region. TVA said that customers taking small steps like lowering their thermostats a few degrees and holding off on running larger appliances like washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers helped keep the system stable.

TVA expressed gratitude to customers for their help and applauded their employees for their hard work in trying conditions. 

TVA provides power to around 10 million people in the region.
