Sunday night brawl in Kuttawa results in one arrest, one sent to hospital

A Sunday night brawl in Kuttawa resulted in one teen being sent to the hospital and one person arrested, for now.

Kentucky State Police got several calls about the fight that erupted outside a vacation rental property near 4th and Lake Barkley Drive. Because of the number of people reportedly involved, Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies, Eddyville Police officers, and Forest Service Law Enforcement were all sent to the scene to assist KSP.

Two vehicles left the scene before law enforcement arrived, but they were both located at another location on Stubbs Road.

Deputies detained and interviewed six people, described as teens, juveniles, or young adults. A 16-year-old male in the group was injured badly enough to be transported to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Paducah to be treated. Two others refused to be taken to the hospital. After collecting evidence and statements, the rest were released to adults.

Reportedly, the young people drove past the tenants of the rental, and something was said that angered them. When the young people drove by again, someone at the rental allegedly threw something at one of the vehicles. The young people stopped, and the fight broke out. Authorities indicated that part of the disturbance was caught on video.

One person was arrested in connection with the physical injuries to the 16-year-old. The Lyon County Sheriff charged 46-year-old Jason L. Walker of Ashland City, Tennessee, with assault. The report said Walker was released, but has a June court date in Lyon County.
