Massac County judge denies release for man in 1984 murder case

A Massac County judge denied pretrial release for a 77-year-old Kentucky man charged with killing a woman more than 40 years ago.

George Bradfield of Owensboro appeared in court Tuesday. He is facing five murder charges in connection to the death of Lisa Ann Carnes in Massac County in 1984.

The state filed the motion to deny pretrial release, which the court granted during the hearing.

A Massac County Grand Jury returned a five-count indictment against Bradfield on April 22. Bradfield was arrested in Owensboro and later extradited from Kentucky to Metropolis.

A jury pretrial is set for June 2 at 9 a.m. at the Massac County Courthouse. A jury trial is set for July 14.
