A handgun stolen out of a vehicle in Fancy Farm six and a half years ago turned up this week in California.

The gun was stolen back in January of 2018. According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, the firearm was recovered from a raid conducted by the Victorville Police Department in California. Victorville Police said that the handgun was in the possession of a juvenile and that individual has been charged. They are still working to determine if there is a connection between their case and the theft in Fancy Farm.

The Sheriff's Office said this case is a good example of why people should record the serial numbers of weapons to be referenced in the event of theft.

Victorville, California is just northeast of Los Angeles in the Mojave desert.
