A spill of chicken waste known as offal created a slippery, messy situation on US 62 in Marshall County.

The spill occurred along US 62 near the I-24 interchange at exit 27 in Calvert City. The slick ran from I-24 to US 641 near Kentucky Dam. According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, there was a report of a motorcycle that crashed because of the slick conditions.

The KYTC Marshall County Highway Maintenance Crew worked for a couple of hours in an attempt to clean up the mess. They put salt on the road to break down the grease and to help provide traction. KYTC said that it would take several more hours for the salt to completely dissolve the grease. They said the smell would take even longer to go away.

The truck that spilled the offal has still not been located. Officials said that anyone with information about the truck should contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, Kentucky State Police, or the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
