Smoke complaint sends Mayfield man to jail

A complaint about smoke filling up an apartment sent a Mayfield man to jail on Sunday.

Officers said they responded to a complaint of smoke from an illegal fire entering an apartment.

The police department said the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Charles Oxx, had an open flame just outside of his residence, which was filling up a neighbor's apartment with smoke.

Oxx was reportedly warned several times to extinguish the fire, but refused.

He was charged with disorderly conduct and lodged at the Graves County jail.
