Hot weather still dominates the Southeast, but a chance for showers at week's end will also bring a cooldown into the 80s for the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, highs today and Wednesday will still be up to ten degrees above normal, in the mid to upper 90s. Lower humidity levels will keep us out of extreme heat index values.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms arrive late this week into the weekend. Rainfall totals ove he next seven days will be less than an inch for most areas. Highs Saturday through Monday will keep to the upper 80s.
Drought conditions will still linger and even get worse through the end of the week.
