I-24 crash in Lyon County claims life of Clinton teen 

A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Hickman County teen Thursday morning in Lyon County. 

Kentucky State Police said the crash happened at about 7:30 a.m. near the 47-mile marker. Investigators said a car driven by 19-year-old Landon C. Ray of Clinton was headed west when his vehicle left the road, struck several trees and overturned.

I-24 was briefly blocked in both directions for an Air Evac helicopter to land at the scene. Westbound lanes were reopened around 10 a.m.

Ray was flown to a Paducah hospital where he died from his injuries. 

Ray reportedly was not wearing a seat belt. 

The investigation into the crash is continuing.
