In southern Illinois, the Red Cross emergency shelter for tornado victims in Marion has been closed, because all the displaced residents have found other places to stay. However, the need for volunteers for tree removal and debris cleanup remains.

The Williamson County Emergency Management Agency posted that there's still a strong need for people who have chainsaws and other tools to help clear the enormous amount of debris from the tornado.

Volunteers are asked to arrive at the designated reception center at the City of Marion Training Center on East Boulevard Street.

The reception center will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until further notice.

Red Cross volunteers will still be in the area providing comfort and support.

Meanwhile, the Salvation Army in Marion will accept donations from 10 am to 4 pm daily to help victims.

Items accepted include:

Bedding
Towels
Toiletries
Hygiene products
Pet food
Diapers
Formula
Baby wipes
Clothing (all sizes)
Household goods (coffee pots, pots and pans, dishes)

Drop off your donations at the Salvation Army Thrift Store and mark them for disaster relief.

If you have questions you can call 618-993-5854.

Anyone affected by the tornado is eligible to receive help from the Salvation Army. However, they must have a case number from the Red Cross.
