Several high schools in the western Kentucky region are ranked in the top 50 in Kentucky according to an article in US News and World Report.

In the survey, Murray High is ranked seventh, Graves County is at number 25, Dawson Springs is ranked 29th, and Ballard Memorial comes in at 36th.  Others include Calloway County in 57th, Lyon County is 84th, Mayfield High is 113, McCracken County is 117th and Paducah Tilghman is 157th.

US News and World Report ranks high schools nationwide based on six factors: college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student achievement, breadth of college curriculum, and graduation rate.

The categories determine a school’s placement both within in its state and in the nation.  There were 393 schools in Kentucky that were eligible for consideration this year. .
