A serious crash and fire along I-24 in Lyon County blocked traffic for much of Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened just before 2 p.m. near the 50-mile marker and reportedly involved a passenger car and a semi. Traffic on the east and westbound sides was shut down as fire departments from Eddyville and Kuttawa, along with police, EMS, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, responded.
The eastbound lanes reopened, but westbound traffic was diverted at exit 56. The westbound lanes near the area of the asphalt rehab project finally reopened at about 5:30 p.m.
There has been no update on injuries associated with the crash and fire.
