The Murray City Council held first reading of an ordinance regarding the construction of data centers Thursday.
The council held a special call meeting to pass first reading after the Murray Planning Commission revised a draft ordinance regulating data centers.
The Planning Commision had sent a proposal last week, but the council asked for a one week moratorium.
The draft ordinance accomodated community feedback following the planning commission's June 9th meeting.
The ordinance wording ensured that a data center was not coming to Murray currently, but for the potential of a facility in the future.
Other notable changes included frequent annual reports, permit renewals, and increasing distance from wetlands.
