Section of I-57 in southern Illinois will close Tuesday night

A 15-mile section of I-57 in southern Illinois will close on Tuesday night through Wednesday morning for emergency repairs.

Southbound Interstate 57 between exit 45 in Williamson County near the I-24 junction, to exit 30 at Anna will close to all traffic at 7 p.m. Tuesday so that crews can make emergency guardrail and pavement repairs.

The road is expected to be reopened by 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

A posted detour will direct southbound I-57 traffic to eastbound Interstate 24, just south of Marion.
