Search warrant ends with drug charges for Calloway pair

The execution of a search warrants ends with a pairs arrest on several drug charges.

The Calloway County Sheriff's Office said narcotics detectives executed a search warrant on Barnett Street in Hazel at 6pm on Wednesday.

There were two people in the home at the time. Detectives said 40-year-old Sammie Smock would not comply with detectives’ commands initially but was eventually placed in custody. 

Detectives said they found 44-year-old Ricky King attempting to dispose of illicit drugs. 

Smock has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, illegal possession of a legend drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstructing governmental operations. 

King was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of a legend drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
