The 13th annual Ratoberfest kicks off this weekend at Beacon Dragway, with this year's event raising money for the Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center.
The event features rat rods and hot rods in a car and bike show welcoming all makes, years, and models. There will also be a pinup contest, drag racing, shopping pavilion, food, an auction, and more.
Festivities kick off on Friday with music and food starting at 6 p.m. Entry is $5 per person, with children 12 and under free. Organizer Lo'Ann Peck described Friday's fun as "basically a party."
Gates open at 7 a.m. on Saturday, with admission of $10 per person. Tickets can be purchased on Friday for a $2 discount.
Saturday's activities continue until awards are presented that afternoon. Shopping in the "Ladies Room" and the swap meet will take place throughout the day. Flag drags are scheduled from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., and the live auction begins at 12:30 p.m.
Kayla Myers, director of community engagement for the Merryman House, told West Kentucky Star they were thrilled to be selected as Ratoberfest's charity of choice this year.
"It's awesome to really have our mission recognized as a need in the community." Myers continued, "We are just pumped to go out and do something fun to raise awareness and raise money."
