Prowler caught stealing copper in Metropolis

A prowler was caught stealing copper from a home in Metropolis last Tuesday. 

Metropolis Police got the prowler call from a home on 6th Street. Officers reportedly spotted 38-year-old Kyle B. Hurst of Metropolis in the act of taking the copper from an air conditioning unit at the residence. A check of Hurst's backpack is said to have uncovered more copper and some tools. 

Hurst was charged with theft and of being in possession of burglary tools. He was released on a notice to appear.
