As rain works its way up the Mississippi River today and tonight, it could be heavy at times in places.
Amounts will range from a half-inch to an inch in southeast Missouri, to an inch or two in western Kentucky, especially in the lakes area into southwest Indiana.
Localized flooding with heavy rain potential this afternoon and evening is possible, particularly over the eastern 2/3 of the region where widespread 1 to 2 inch rains are forecast with isolated higher totals possible.
Conditions will dry out Thursday and Friday with a late week cooldown. Weekend highs in the upper 50s and lows around 40 will be right around the seasonal norms for this time of year.
