First responders will receive special hazardous material response training today for incidents involving the Paducah & Louisville line.
The training session in Paducah on Monday afternoon will be the first of four conducted by the Short Line Safety Institute. The sessions will consist of classroom work, interactive discussions, hands-on training, and information specific to P & L operations.
The training will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the P&L Main Office at 200 Clark Street and in the adjacent parking lot at Marine Way and Adams Street. There will also be sessions with P & L in Princeton, Elizabethtown, and Pleasure Ridge Park later this week.
The training is free for P & L and the first responding agencies as it is paid for by a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
