A Princeton man was arrested and charged after claiming to have been shot in a drive-by incident last week.

Princeton Police said they were called while 47-year-old Marlon Towns of Princeton was being treated for a gunshot wound at a local hospital. Towns reportedly told officers that he did not know the suspect, and that the shooting was a random drive-by that took place in front of the Marathon on Marion Road near I-69.

Investigators determined that there was no shooting at that location.

Towns was arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident to police. He faces an additional charge of driving on a DUI-suspended license.
