The Murray Independent School District has issued a statement about rumored threats toward Murray High School.

The statement issued yesterday by Superintendent Coy Samons stressed the importance of safety and security at all of their schools and facilities. Rumors circulating on social media prompted an investigation by Murray High's School Resource Officer and Murray Police. They reportedly identified the source and determined that there was no credibility to the reported threats of violence. They said the reported threats were not directed toward any individual student or facility, but they take any threat seriously.

Out of an abundance of caution, additional Murray police officers will be present at Murray High and the administration has enhanced their safety protocols.

Samons said all schools, programs, and activities will proceed as normal.
