A standoff between police and a man inside a Farmington residence came to a peaceful conclusion on Tuesday afternoon.

Graves County deputies went to an address on Farmington Street Tuesday morning to serve a felony warrant on 37-year-old Anthony L. Turner. Turner was wanted on previous charges of trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of firearms by a felon and others.

Turner refused to come out of the home. Police discovered that the home did not belong to Turner, and he did not have permission from the owner to be there.

Meanwhile, Turner sent messages that he was armed and threatening to use a firearm.

Deputies set up a perimeter to prevent Turner from getting out of the residence. Even though no danger existed for nearby Farmington Elementary School, they were notified of the standoff.

Trained negotiators from both the Graves and McCracken County Sheriff's offices made contact with Turner, who eventually came out of the home and surrendered without incident at about 3:20 p.m.

Turner was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center and later cleared and taken to an out of county detention facility.

He was additionally charged with criminal trespass and resisting arrest.
