A pair of earthquakes shook portions of the New Madrid fault zone on Saturday morning.
The strongest of the two happened just before 10 a.m. about a mile south of Caruthersville. That one registered 3.2 on the Richter scale, according to the US Geological Survey at the University of Memphis. At least 27 people reported feeling the quake. There have been no reports of damage.
The other tremor shook part of West Tennessee and was centered about 5 miles west of Henning, Tennessee. It registered a magnitude of 2.7. Eight people said they felt it. No damage was reported with that quake, either, which happened just before 7 a.m. Saturday.
