Two people were arrested Thursday for methamphetamine and failure to comply with sex offender registration.
The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said they received a request from the Ballard County Sheriff for assistance in a string of recent thefts. In a surveillance video, a detective allegedly recognized the male as 45-year-old Scotty Ray Skaggs of Baskett.
Detectives said they located and arrested Skaggs and 48-year-old Cynthia Lawler of Paducah at a residence on Old North Friendship Road. They said a search of the home allegedly revealed a small amount of suspected methamphetamine. Deputies said Skaggs was also living at a residence that was non-compliant with the terms of his sex offender registry.
Both Skaggs and Lawler were charged with possession of methamphetamine and failure to comply with sex offender registration. In addition, they also face charges of criminal trespassing and theft by unlawful taking under $500 in Ballard County.
