A man was arrested in Paducah Friday afternoon after authorities said a traffic stop escalated into a fight with police.

McCracken County deputies said they stopped a vehicle on Caldwell Street, and the driver, 37-year-old Timothy McNeal, began fighting with them while attempting to get away. Deputies said they used a taser to arrest McNeal.

While searching his belongings, deputies reportedly found suspected Fentanyl and a loaded handgun. In addition, he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of his arrest.

McNeal was taken to the McCracken County Jail. Charges included assault, resisting arrest, trafficking in a controlled substance - firearm enhanced, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
