A teenager is accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint during a Facebook Marketplace transaction in Paducah.
According to Paducah police, they were dispatched to Hendricks Street just off Bridge Street on Sunday.
A woman told them she had agreed to meet an unknown person to buy a video game system. She said the juvenile approached her vehicle with the item, but as she handed him the money, he pointed a handgun at her then ran away.
K-9 Bary led officers a few blocks to Ella Drive where they identified the suspect. The teen was taken into custody and booked into the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center. The 15-year-old juvenile is facing a charge of first-degree robbery.
Police remind people planning to meet strangers for a sale to meet in well-populated areas, not an isolated location, and tell a friend or family member where you’re going. Many law enforcement or government facilities offer an internet sales exchange location that is under constant video surveillance. In Paducah, a space is available at the McCracken County courthouse.
