With less than 10 days to go, our local long-term forecast is on the fence about any chance of a white Christmas.
Most of the nation can expect temperatures at or above normal for the next 6-10 days, according to the National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center.
Only the East Coast states are included in a trend line indicating below average temperatures for Christmas week.
Our immediate region is included in a band expected to receive near normal high and low temperatures, which is historically 46 and 30 degrees in Paducah during Christmas week.
If we did happen to get morning low temperatures near freezing for the holiday, our precipitation odds are also near normal, with a trend for above normal precipitation just west of the lower Mississippi River.
In other words, it's still too early to tell.
