Paducah police urge use of 988 after Thursday shooting incident

Authorites have issued a statement after a shooting incident Thursday afternoon in Paducah.

Officers were called to a home on North 7th Street after reports of a man wanting to harm himself.

As officers approached, the man turned the gun on himself and fired. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Paducah Police Department urges anyone struggling with mental health issues to contact the 988 suicide and crisis lifeline.

The investigation is ongoing.
