Paducah Mayor George Bray and City Commissioners addressed recent concerns raised by the Fiscal Court over the proposed sports complex.
Bray said the City is working on trying to get a decision made on how to replace an antiquated and outdated 911 system that was at its end of life back in 2017. He said the City and County signed the memorandums of understanding at the same time for both the sports complex and 911 system, but they have been on different timelines.
Bray said the 911 project is very important to the city and they need to understand precisely how and under what time frame we’re going to move forward with the 911 project.
“We have full plans to support the outdoor sports complex, but the 911 system continues to be a concern for us,” said Bray.
Like partnering on the Sports Complex, Bray added the county had opportunities in the past to come in as full partners on the 911 system and have yet to do so. Bray said the city needs more certainty that they are headed down the road of full partnership.
