Paducah man charged with taking money for work not done

A Paducah man has been charged after allegedly taking money and then not completing work for customers.

Paducah Police detectives were alerted by customers of a business called Hometown Decorating that payments for cabinets and flooring had been accepted, but work had reportedly not been completed. Not only was the work allegedly not delivered, but some of the anticipated items were said to have not even been ordered.

Investigators said they had been able to determine that some $45,300 in flooring and cabinets had been paid for, but the work was never done. The customers accused the owner of Hometown Decorating, 27-year-old Bryson Wells, of cutting off communication with them following payment. The business subsequently ceased operation and closed.

Wells was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 but less than $1,000,000. He was booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Police believe there could be other victims, and those individuals should contact Paducah Police.
