A single-vehicle accident on Friday ended in numerous charges for a Paducah man.

Officers were called Friday afternoon to the 1600 block of South 6th Street where they said 33-year-old Javario J. Woods had crashed into three utility poles, a fire hydrant, and a house.

A gas meter at the house was broken, requiring police to shut down the block to traffic until repairs could be made.

Woods reportedly told police he was having car trouble and lost control of the vehicle. However, police said multiple witnesses reported he was chasing another vehicle at a high rate of speed, causing the accident.

Woods refused medical treatment and was arrested on charges of wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, and reckless driving.

He was taken to the McCracken County jail.
