Paducah man arrested after allegedly trying to arrange meeting with a minor

Paducah Police said they arrested a man after he allegedly tried to arrange a sexual encounter with someone he thought was a minor.

Investigators said they responded to a business at the 3500 block of James Sanders Boulevard on Sunday. Officers said they spoke to individuals who said they had been texting 36-year-old Andrew Rodgers of Paducah. The individuals reported being affiliated with a group that works to identify those who attempt to arrange sexual encounters with children through electronic communications.

The individuals said Rodgers thought he was texting with a 13-year-old boy. Investigators said Rodgers admitted to sending sexually explicit photographs of himself to those individuals and had arranged to meet up for a sexual act.

Rodgers was arrested without incident. Prosecutors charged Rodgers with attempting to procure or promote the use of a minor by electronic means and distribution of obscene matters to minors.
