The city of Paducah made a recent list of the top retirement communities in the country.

Travel and Leisure's "Destination Retirement" series compiled a list of the 50 best locations in America to retire, including 10 in the southeast..

The website played off Paducah’s biggest claim to fame as its creativity, being a UNESCO Creative City and home of the National Quilt Museum, the Paducah School of Art & Design, and the life-size “Wall to Wall" floodwall murals.

Its cost of living is also an important factor, along with regional air transportation and a strategic location just a few hours from big city life.

Another regional city also made the list. Paris, Tennessee, was noted for life on the lakes, and the advantage of Tennessee's tax benefits.

Other southeastern cities on the list include Sebring, Florida; Alexandria, Louisiana; Tryon, North Carolina; Natchez, Mississippi; Wheeling, West Virginia; Litchfield, South Carolina; Danville, Virginia; and Waycross, Georgia.
