Burglary follow up ends with drug charge

A follow up on a burglary investigation ended with drug charges a resident in Calvert City last week.

Calvert City police said they went to a home on Pine Avenue last Wednesday to follow up on a burglary investigation.

Officers asked the residents for permission to search the home and during the search a wooden box with bongs and plastic baggies containing crystals were allegedly found.  The female resident told officers it belonged to the male resident, identified as Mark M. Hayes.  

Hayes reportedly admitted the crystals were methamphetamine and that he had used some on the previous day.  He then stated that the box and all the contents belong to his mother.  

Hayes was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
