The Paducah Fire Department is inviting the community to help local students prepare for the upcoming school year by filling a fire truck with school supplies.

The fire department aims to help local students through its Fill the Fire Truck with School Supplies campaign through August 12.

Donations of school supplies and individually wrapped food items can be donated at any Paducah fire station and at City Hall at 300 South 5th Street.

All donations will be given to schools within the Paducah city limits.

August 5 will be a special donation day, with members of the fire department collecting donations at the Southside Walmart from 9 am until noon and the West End Walmart from 1 until 4 pm.

Deputy Fire Marshall April Tinsman said every donation would be appreciated and will greatly impact the success of local students.

"The Paducah Fire Department looks forward to this donation event each year since we can show our investment in our community and help local families start the school year with school supplies and food items," she said.
