Governor Beshear announced Thursday that a company in Paducah is among seven that will receive part of nearly $750,000 in matching grants to grow the state’s technology sector.

Beshear said the grants are part of Kentucky's Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer matching funds program. The latest funds will match, in part, $4.7 million in federal grants the businesses will also collectively receive.

In Paducah, New Global Systems for Intelligent Transportation Management Corporation will receive a share of funds.

New Global Systems is developing a platform to meet the challenges of ride-sharing for individuals in rural locations and those with disabilities. The platform will create real-time tracking, route optimization, and dynamic pricing to ensure trips are cost-efficient and accessible.

The other six companies, all located in Louisville and Lexington, are using technology to advance cybersecurity technology, efficient power consumption, radiation therapy, hydrogen energy production and the fight against Alzheimers.
